Vik Vandamme, born on September 2, 1997, in Roeselare, Belgium, is a young and ambitious violin maker who opened a workshop in his hometown in 2021.

At a young age, he played the violin, which led to a deep love for violin making.
In 2016, after completing his secondary education, Vik decided to pursue his passion and began his training at ILSA (International Lutherie School of Antwerp).

He received instruction from violin makers Anton Somers and Erik Buyse in Antwerp, where he learned the craft and honed his skills over the years.

His quest for perfection took Vik to Oslo, where he had the opportunity to intern with the renowned violin maker Jacob von der Lippe, where he not only developed his technical skills but also found a mentor and valuable collaborator. They maintain a strong bond, with Vik crafting instruments based on Jacob's personal model.

Despite his youthful age, Vik Vandamme already has over 25 instruments to his name, all of which are played daily by satisfied musicians. Recently, Vik achieved a new milestone by starting to build his own cello and violin model.

 

Vik Vandamme continually pushes his boundaries and refines his craftsmanship, constantly striving for excellence in his work. His passion for violin making propels him forward, and he hopes that his instruments will inspire and accompany many generations of musicians on their musical journey.
