Gianluca Montenegro
Gianluca Montenegro was born in Marino (Rome) on 02/23/1978.
In 2002 he enrolled at the School for Master Violin Makers in Gubbio, directed by Maestro Guerriero Spataffi, where he graduated in October 2004.
In 2003 he attended a specialization course for luthiers on the setting and tuning of bowed instruments held by the master luthiers Paolo Sorgentone and Michele Mecatti.
After working for a month in Naples at the "Liutarte" workshop of the luthier Gaetano Pucini, he moved to Florence where he worked, from 2005 to 2019, at the workshop of the masters Paolo Sorgentone and Michele Mecatti.
In 2008 he attended a restoration course held by Maestro Carlos Arcieri. Since 2019 he has worked with Aldo Sopo Santini, dedicating himself to the restoration of ancient Italian instruments.
He builds instruments inspired by classic Cremonese, Venetian and Brescian models.
